C# programmer

You are an experienced hard-core C# craftsman (crafts-woman) of fundamental components.
You will be writing fundamental objects that will be used in an ASP.NET platform, AWS Lambda
function called as Web endpoints and from other AWS services, calls and callbacks to/from
other API’s and custom database functions added to large-scale MSSQL. You must have the
mind of an imaginative algorist since the typical brute-force algorithm often will not be
sufficient for our needs.
Productivity, algorithmic imagination, team-cooperation, intelligence, self-motivation/self-
direction, and great attitude are your coin of the realm.

Specific skills and desired experience:
- Delivering on time and on budget projects working with distributed teams
- Experience building and maintaining …
- Experience working in agile or scrum-like environments
- Ability to keep greater than 5 technical projects running smoothly and concurrently
- Comfortable (Passionate) about working in a startup environment

Target Location:
- Candidate must be able to work on-site, side-by- side, with other crafts-people several
days per week in the Santa Barbara California or Toronto Ontario office.

Database Programmer / Data Architect

We are looking for an extraordinarily experienced MSSQL platform database programmer /
data architect. This position is the fundamental foundation that our entire application stack is
built upon. The candidate needs to be at a sophisticated level of experience that they can
technically, intelligently and philosophically discuss the pros/cons of questions like those below.
Then implement the discussed conclusions, regardless of position in that discussion, the results
of some of the following type of questions.

1. In a MVC design pattern, what are the advantages and disadvantages of enforcing the
data-model into SQL such that all queries at the Controller -> Model level are always in
the form of “SELECT * FROM FunctionName(args…)”?
2. When and what are the advantages and disadvantages technically, intelligently and
philosophically to extend MSSQL with C# functions within Queries, Functions, and
Stored procedures?
3. Why the SQL DELETE command should never be used in any modern application.
4. How best to interface Hadoop with MSSQL and with what queries are appropriate to do
so with in a Federated Database in-cloud architecture?
5. Under what conditions is it better to use a date String ([YYYYMMDD] VARCHAR(8)) than
a DateTime datatype?
6. Blob vs reference to external storage?
7. What is the best way subjectively and objectively setting up AWS RDS to achieve our
sophisticated goals?
8. Why encapsulate all database queries calls in REST call on AWS Lambda?
9. What are the technical appeal of using AWS SQS (Simple Queueing Service) for real-time
asynchronous query/message forwarding and load balancing to help mitigate DDOS.
10. What are the technical best methods for maintaining utmost privacy and data integrity
across the platform and connected devices and services without sacrificing user
experience simplicity and real-time responsiveness?

MSSQL is a deep program. We are looking for a person whom appropriately uses its depth of
Triggers, Stored Procedures, Functions, Parametrized Queries and Views in a well-considered,
strategic and tactical way to reach the high-level goals. We are not looking for YAQJ. (Yet
Another Query Jockey)

If you are an experienced Database Programmer where these above questions are an ordinary
topic of discussion for you over lunch or at the water cooler, then you are the type of person
that we would like to work with. You must enjoy working closely with other (less senior) team
members with a smile and a calm attitude and not be the old-crotchety- grumpy database g-d
that the prior description would tend to match.

iOS Swift (3, 4) Application Developer

We are looking for an extraordinarily iOS Swift (3, 4) developer whom is very experienced with
interfacing to BLE devices, SQLite on phone, REST API calls sending/receiving JSON, SOAP calls
sending/receiving XML and PushKit. You must be a creative person with a good UX/UI design
eye and execution. Expertise with land-scape/portrait layouts and screen resolutions difference
across phone and tablet devices without over dependence on (funky) story-boards when they
do not function in the manner desired, is highly prized. Further, experience with accessibility
features and ravenous consumption of what is coming next from Apple (and other mobile OS
trends) is important and vital.

Answer these questions:
1. Are you capable to write / update a full application that elegantly handles all screen
orientations and supported screen resolutions 100% in code with no story-board, is
maintainable, and made to kick a$$?
2. Are you GameKit and GameplayKit experienced?
3. Have you been drooling over and playing with the ARKit, Vision and Core ML APIs?
4. Are you interested in mastering the HealthKit, HealthKitUI and HomeKit parts of iOS?
5. Are you experienced and tenacious with all of the non-programming Apple apparatus of
certificates, iTunes, TestFlight, App Store, push messages, services and all of the other
B$ that Apple makes you do back-flips through to get your application running in the
real-world?

Experience in porting non-Swift code and algorithms (C, C++, Objective-C, Java, etc.) to proper
Swift best practices paradigm is important. Swift skills merged with creativity, productivity,
team-cooperation, intelligence, self-motivation/self- direction, and great attitude are your coin
of the realm.

We are seeking a skilled person who can organizes and stay on top of everything, at the same
time as be a “programmer whisperer”, cat herder, but not be a baby sitter. You are (literally) the journalist (writing, photos, video, communications) of all that goes on, and can answer just about any question on the state of “everything?” Are you a self-starter who can keep the ball rolling in the right direction even when being pulled in every direction and still keep a genuine
smile? You will often work with both the CEO and CTO, and set up and lead teams for success. You will sit in on meeting and then be asked to make the follow-up contacts, assist in laying out and documenting schedules, journal in to the project management system, ever so gently remind people when important deadlines are approaching, and dispassionately make sure that everything is getting done with calm energy.
Our engineers work across a wide array of technologies and systems ranging from clouddatabases, machine learning, networking and internet communications, mobile app andembedded software and firmware design and development and platform/API development. You will have to be technical enough to know and fully comprehend what is going on in the projects without having to perform the technical task yourself. (i.e. Know what a component does without having to be able to write it yourself.) Organization, productivity, team-cooperation, intelligence, self-motivation/self- direction, and great attitude with sometimes socially awkward colleagues, are your coin of the realm.

Specific skills and desired experience:
- Delivering on time and on budget projects working with distributed teams
- Experience building and maintaining online project plans
- Experience working in agile or scrum-like environments
- Ability to keep greater than 5 technical projects running smoothly and concurrently
- Capable of running projects that span engineering, operations and sales/marketing
- Comfortable (Passionate) about working in a startup environment
- Oriented to high performance and working in a meritocratic culture
- Ability to report out project status on the fly or regularly using quantitative data
- Ability to pivot quickly adapt to changing requirements
Target Location:

Technical Projects Manager

Web Developer

We are looking for a creative person with a good UX/UI design eye, but still technically savvy
web developer to work on the following platform. DNN (DotNetNuke) CMS on a distributed, load-balanced VPC Windows servers against AWS RDS MSSQL database. Most of your work will be using DNN Sharp ActionForm and ActionGrid modules for large parts of UI and interfacing with AJAX services like Google Charts and Maps.

Most all “programming” you will be doing falls into these categories.
1. Collect user field data to call REST API web services calls with JSON payloads and returns, to internal and external API providers.
2. Database queries; mostly in the form of “SELECT * FROM FunctionName(args…)” You will be working closely side-by- side with database professionals that will supply your Query Function (QF) in a timely manner so that you do not need to be a database or query expert. You must be able to conceptualize and articulate clearly in written form what data and meta-data needs to be supplied in the QF’s. Ideally you would be able to create your own QF’s from the broader lower-level QF’s and views supplied.
3. Lite amounts of JavaScript and Angular.

Creativity, productivity, team-cooperation, intelligence, self-motivation/self- direction, and great attitude are your coin of the realm.

Specific skills and desired experience:
